Saanich Strategic Plan Approved by Council
On December 17, 2007, Council adopted the 2008-2012
Saanich Strategic Plan. This update to the Plan continues to provide an important 'road map' for our municipality, helping us link our short-term actions to our long term strategy of achieving the Saanich Vision. Prior to being approved, the 2008-2012 Plan was reviewed by staff from all Municipal Departments, nine Council Committees and the Saanich Community Association network (SCAN).

We believe that the Strategic Plan gives Council and
staff a clear roadmap to reach the Saanich
Vision. It will help focus our energies on what is
most important, ensure that we allocate resources to different
priority areas in a balanced way, and provide direction to
each employee on how they contribute to the Vision. The Plan
offers a framework to satisfy Community Charter requirements
by reporting meaningful performance results that clearly indicate
to citizens the progress we have made towards achieving the
Saanich Vision.
The Strategic Plan integrates the plans, priorities and initiatives
from existing strategic documents such as the Saanich General
Plan, Local Area Plans, capital plans, and the Parks and Recreation
Master Plan, as well as incorporates extensive input and feedback
from
citizens (through the 2006 Citizen
Survey), community (through
focus groups) and businesses (through the 2006
Business Survey).
We hope that this document will help all of us think about
where the municipality is going, and the best way of getting
there. This web page will continue to evolve over the next
year with the addition of implementation progress updates,
amendments to the Strategic Plan as they are made, and corporate
performance reports.
